The Best Tool To Make You A Better Writer

By Epifania Posted on October 12, 2018February 21, 2021 13 3 m read

One of the worries I had before I started blogging was whether my English would meet the standard your content needs to be considered “readable”. English was not my best subject in school neither was it a favorite. I was always more of a numbers and Math person. In fact, if you had told me in high school that I would one day become a blogger I would probably have laughed at you.

Even though my writing wasn’t the best when I started blogging, I didn’t let that stop me. I started my blog in hopes that I would perfect my writing over time. However, one of my very first post comments was advice from someone pointing out that there were too many spelling and grammar errors in my posts and advising me to revise them before putting them up. I took this advice constructively and started doing my research on how to improve my writing skills, because if my readers were noticing it, then it needed to be improved.

I must say, however, in my research I found a lot of unhelpful advice like “write more often” or “plan, then write” which didn’t really solve my issue. I did plan my writings before I wrote them and writing more often was only going to make a faster writer or more frequent writer out of me. And while I believe in the term “practice makes perfect”, I didn’t know how I would perfect my writing if there was no one to correct my mistakes.

Finally, after a long search, I found the perfect tool that I needed to improve my writing and correct me when I made grammatical errors. And I found something even better than what I was looking for. Allow me to introduce you to an important tool you will need as a writer if you aren’t already using it, Grammarly.

Grammarly is the perfect spelling and grammar autocorrect that is easy to use and equally simple to install. All you need to do is register here, and install the plug-in on your internet browser and Grammarly will automatically correct all your English spelling and grammar mistakes as you type your blog posts, emails, chats etc. That means when you are typing your business emails it will be correcting your email so that you don’t send poorly spelt emails.

It doesn’t just correct your spelling and grammar but it also suggests commas, full stops, hyphens etc where they are needed.

A great feature that Grammarly also has is that you can upload documents onto their website and it will proofread your text for you. No need to worry about sending reports, assignments or essays that have poor grammar. You can also install the app on your PC and it will correct you as you write offline.

Grammarly has three plans, a free plan, a premium plan, and a business plan. With the business and premium plans, you can add a team of people so you can make sure that everyone is representing your brand well in their writing.

With the premium and business plan you can have the following corrected for you by Grammarly:

  • Grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors
  • Inconsistent writing style
  • Unclear sentence structure
  • Overused words
  • Ineffective vocabulary
  • Wordiness
  • Hedging language
  • Impoliteness
  • Insensitive or non-inclusive language
  • Inappropriate tone or formality level
  • Plagiarism

So if you aren’t already using Grammarly, then sign up here to get a FREE account that will make your writing skills better and have something that corrects your spelling and grammar for you so that all you have to worry about is writing that awesome content! This will help make sure your content is well spelt and grammatically correct.

If you are one of those people who prefer the old style of doing things and want a professional to proofread your content for you, you can hire one on Fiverr, for as little as $5. And if you generally want to learn English, there’s a good English for beginners course on Shaw Academy you can enroll for.

Love this post. I like how you point out that you can be a good writer even if you have spelling and grammar issues. I was always good at writing but I always had the same problem. I had to download grammarly for my blog. I was upset about it and made me feel like I wasn’t good enough. But that’s not true we all have our struggles.

I’m truly enjoying the design and layout of your website.

It’s very easy on the eyes which makes it much more enjoyable for me to come here and visit more often. Did you hire out a designer to create your theme?
    Exceptional work!
