You’ve spent quite a deal of effort, money, and time to get your website designed.
Not only that, but you have as well produced high-quality content for your audience.
Unfortunately, you haven’t gotten enough visitors, to begin with, so all the hard work you’ve put through is going futile.
This can be frustrating, and I have been there too.
It was those days when I hardly saw visitors coming to my site.
It was like I had no future with internet marketing.
Back then, I had to pay for ads to promote my site and on social media too.
The ROI was not good, but then I considered optimizing my site by implementing both on-page and off-page SEO.
This was when I had my first breakthrough.
My search engine ranking increased with more visitors, which I subsequently converted to buyers.
Nonetheless, paid ads work for me now, and it happened to be that I wasn’t getting it right in those days.
I’m trying to let you know that organic search traffic happened to be my first breakthrough and can work the same way for you.
Out of past experiences, I’ll share with you in this article;
Ten tangible ways you can improve your search engine rankings and get more visitors in no time.
Table of Contents
Get Backlinks
This is very common as you’ll most often find websites building links from other related sites.
Backlinks are essential factors search engines use to rank websites and their contents.
When you get external sites to link back to your site or web page, this tells search engines that the other site is endorsing your site.
If that other site happens to be an authoritative one, then the chances are that your website authority and reputation will significantly improve and make search engines recommend you more.
The more backlinks you get from external sites, the easier it is for your content to be pushed forward to more audience by search engines.
Optimize Your Site for Mobile Devices
Having a mobile-friendly website or blog will influence the experience visitors have while navigating through your site from their mobile devices and let search engines feel comfortable sending mobile visitors to your site.
Google carries out a mobile-friendly test/ assessment for websites.
If your site passes that test, then the chances are that you will outrank your competitors that are yet to have a mobile-friendly site.
Write Good and Optimized Content
There’s a famous saying that ‘Content is King”.
If I remember well, the phrase was coined by Bill Gates in 1996.
That was way back when no one thought the world would be as digital as now.
We now acknowledge its impact.
Your visitors are coming to your site to get a specific value, which can only be expressed through the content you provide.
Moreover, your content is what tells search engines what your blog is all about.
If you can write engaging content and optimize it with the appropriate keywords, then the chances are that you can convert even a competitor into a buyer someday.
Fix Broken Links
Broken links are detrimental and can cost you tons more traffic than you could imagine because they don’t just piss users off but also hurt your search engine rankings.
Therefore, make sure you fix any broken links.
Suppose you are skeptical about how you can identify broken links.
In that case, you must know that a simple Google search about “Broken Link Checker” will land you to various tools you can use to identify broken links without any hassles.
Optimize Images
The potential of images is underrated.
A significant SEO advantage is a descriptive file name, giving alternative texts, and compressing your images.
Optimize Loading Speed
Search engines are on the sides of users, so the more you can ease user stress, the better you can improve your ties with them.
The more you optimize your site, so it does not lag from the user end or keeps loading on slow networks, the better your search engine rankings will be.
You can do this by using compressed images, removing any plugin that isn’t in use, etc.
Improve User Experience
Earlier on, I told you that search engines are on the side of the users.
Putting this into perspective, you need to make sure you’re always looking for ways to improve user experience.
Having a simple & beautiful design, more straightforward navigation, engaging content, and throwing other persuasive techniques to make users spend more time would greatly reflect your rankings.
Add Meta Description
Meta descriptions are excellent in telling search engines what your page is all about.
If you include meta description tags, then the chances are that you will ease the search engine’s struggle in rating your site’s relevance for a given search query.
Keyword Research
Keyword research entails looking for phrases that users are using when typing their search queries and planning your content around that.
Depending on how popular your website is, use the most frequent and easy-to-unit keywords with low competition.
Keyword research is a tricky topic, so the more you learn to research and use keywords without stuffing them, the better the chances of improving your search engine rankings.
Aim for The First Position
Last but not least, you must always target the first position.
Try as much as you can to implement different SEO strategies to make your link occupy the first position on Google for related searches.
The chances are that you might not be able to rank in the first position due to high-authority competitors but might end up ranking lower.
As time goes by, and with hard work of optimization, you will be moving closer, and the next thing is your site ranking in position #1.
I’m not going to tell you that SEO would all be easy to implement, but at least it will be worth it.
