Step 1: Create an Adsense Account

Google Adsense needs to approve your application but before that, it is important to know that the approval process is a bit strict and that there are some factors they look at to approve your application. For a general blog you need to have at least 1000 views; good quality content and good site design will also be a very great advantage to scale through this step.
For the sake of YouTube content creators, the process is slightly different but as a minimum, you need to have 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours to qualify for the partner program.
Step 2: Set Up Your Ads
As soon as your account gets approved, the next step would be to copy an HTML code from your settings tab and paste it on the webpage you want Google to serve ads on.

You need to only undergo this once and you’ll no longer be required to do that for the account for life. Afterward, you’ll be allowed to withdraw your earnings once they reach the minimum threshold which is currently US$100, and periodically after that.

Thank you for explaining how to set this up. I was very eager to go this route but had no idea how as a new blogger. I figured I would learn in time, but then I started hearing that it was a waste of time from other bloggers who had tried it. Now I am not sure that I want to go this route but it is good to know just in case I change my mind. By the way, it seems like we should be paid for simply displaying an ad on our websites at all, whether people click on it or not. That is free advertising for them, otherwise. They don’t pay networks only when someone buys something after watching a commercial. It should work the same for bloggers!
I really should figure out how to display ads myself to see if that makes a difference. I have auto-placement on which is convenient, but money is so minimal from them.
